BEEN POACHED?

We are collecting stories from growers who have experienced poaching of ginseng from their land. If you've had ginseng poached from your please contact us so we can help others understand the seriousness of this issue. Use the following questions to help, and forward your story to Chip Carroll at Rural Action (email to chipc@ruralaction.org or mail to PO Box 21, Glouster, OH 45732).

Some suggested questions to address:

How much ginseng was poached, and what was the approximate value?

Were you growing or actively managing your ginseng as a crop or was it growing wild on your property?

Has this happened to you more than one time?

If so, what is the approximate total value or weight of the crops that were poached?

Did you report this to your local law enforcement officer or the Division of Natural Resources?

If so, what action was taken?

What precautions have you taken to help prevent this from happening again? (disguising plants, posting signs, installing surveillance, marking plants, etcb&)

County or state where you live?

Thank you for sharing your story to highlight the seriousness of ginseng poaching as a barrier to growers.
